Fruit bats destroy apple crop in Himachal

Fruit bats, which play a critical role in controlling pests, have become a menace in the Jubbal-Rohru belt in the upper Shimla region of Himachal Pradesh, destroying a ripe apple crop.

The University of Idaho Annual Fruit Field Day will be held on Friday, Sept. 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The registration will start at 8:30 a.m. and program will start at 9 a.m. Several cultivars of new table grapes, peaches, nectarines, apples, quinces, Asian pears and other alternative fruits will be presented during the tour.
